Slip-decorated Pearlware Mug

Color, condition, design, rarity.  A few of the things to look for in collecting the English slip-decorated ceramics commonly and erroneously referred to as "mochaware".  While the bands of slip were still wet, a comb was run across them to create the dramatic effect seen here.  It measures 6" tall and has a light spider in the base and some staining; it has not been professionally cleaned.  English, circa 1820.
