The Winning of the West by Theodore Roosevelt.

Knickerbocker Press, New York, 1900.

Daniel Boone edition #181.  This edition is something special.  Inside the front cover of the first volume of each set is a page of TR's original manuscript for the text.  In this example the subject matter is St. Clair's Defeat, or the Battle of Wabash, fought between Native Americans of the Western Confederacy and approximately 1,000 troops of the U.S. Army led by General Arthur St. Clair in 1791 in the Northwest Territory, near present-day Fort Recovery, Ohio.

 

Binding reverted to brown at spines, minor nicks and wear to bindings (unrestored), contents (including manuscript) are excellent and complete with folding maps.

 

Provenance:

A Royal Oak, Maryland attic.
